Las Vegas Crating Moves Famous Henry Moore Art Sculpture From Aria
In what is one of the largest undertakings of art sculptures being moved this feat was accomplished by professional and veteran packing, shipping, and crating experts at Las Vegas Crating & Logistics.
The installation at Aria was Henry Moore’s famous art sculpture ‘ Reclining Connected Forms ‘ and has been present on the Las Vegas Strip since 2009.
Henry Moore Installation “Reclining Connected Forms” 1969-1974 at Aria
The Artist: Henry Moore (British, B. 1898; D 1986) was an artist and sculptor, and was the most celebrated sculptor of his time. Often regarded as the father of modern British sculpture, Henry Moore’s large-scale bronze and marble sculptures can be found in public parks and plazas around the world. Working in various styles and mediums, Moore is perhaps best known for his highly abstract and interpretive renditions of the human figure, often portrayed in the reclining position.
The Installation: Moore created more than one of this sculpture, some in bronze, some in stone. Moore’s abstractions, such as this one, of the human figure usually depict mother and child or reclining forms.
The abstracted shapes of Reclining Connected Forms allude to two enduring themes within the art of Henry Moore, one of Britain’s leading twentieth-century sculptors: the reclining figure and the mother and child. Here, undulating organic forms evoke a recumbent human figure, a mother embracing a child, or perhaps an infant in the womb. Henry Moore once associated the motif of the mother and child in his work to his discovery of and interest in armor: “Armor is an outside shell like the shell of a snail which is there to protect the more vulnerable forms inside…. This has led sometimes to the idea of the Mother and Child where the outer form, the mother, is protecting the inner form, the child.” Moore began his life-long exploration of reclining figures in the 1930s, sometimes separating the figures into two or three pieces. In addition, he began to experiment with the inclusion of holes that penetrate the biomorphic shapes of his carvings, and beginning in the 1950s, often treated the open spaces within his sculpture as significantly as he did the solid forms.

A Massive Art Sculpture Moves Requires Some Heavy Equipment
Moving an oversized art sculpture is more than just logistics and manpower – especially when it comes in valued at more than six million dollars by some estimates.
Las Vegas Crating & Logistics lead by owner Chris Long met this challenge with his professional team on the Las Vegas Strip. Head up and coordinated by Tyler Long, Henry Moore’s Reclining Connected Forms Sculpture was documented and moved by one of their largest coordinated efforts to date.

Custom Art Sculpture Moving Materials
When it comes to packing and shipping traditional art most often times the shape and dimensions are fairly commonplace. Custom art sculptures and installations with unique dimensions require custom build outs. Not to mention the sheer massive tons of support and structure that are required so nothing is damaged. Las Vegas Crating & Logistics team had to build custom moving materials for Henry Moore’s famous art installation on the Strip in front of Aria and the City Center.
